The S.A.F.E. program currently operates five days a week during the academic year from the hours of 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., when there are more than 200 young people involved in the program. According to Justice Department studies one of the most dangerous time periods for young people in the inner city are during these hours. Starting in September, S.A.F.E. will influence and enrich more than 300 at-risk youth on a daily basis. This number will greatly increase during the summer to approximately 400 youth being serviced through our combined programming.

S.A.F.E. also offers a Saturday Morning Mentor/Tutoring Program to provide academic assistance and self-esteem enrichment to children in grades Kindergarten through High School. It runs during the academic year from October through June and operates from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. S.A.F.E. tutees attend public and private schools with the majority living in the Douglas Park, North Lawndale area. The mentors come from various locations throughout the city to provide consistent one on one educational enhancement.
